Tired of fighting? Learn to juggle!

There was this wonderful opportunity at company X where I could have worked, had my husband allowed me to! If it wasn’t for my marine engineer husband’s crave to have me at home during his four months of holiday, I wouldn’t be sitting idle during the rest of the months when he is busy working! Had my ex-fiancĂ© been broader minded and allowed me to work along with the men crowd, I would have been happily married by now!

How many of us have or is going through such a situation where we would love to work and earn a living for ourselves, but have kept aside our dreams and aspirations for the happiness of our better halves? Women have been known for their sacrificing abilities and many at times members of the opposite gender tend to misunderstand their decisions as our happiness.

At the same time how many of us have been in such a situation where our husbands admire women who are financially and professionally independent? Not to forget that these women are in no way related to them! Feel inferior? Does our inner voice cry, “You are incapable!”? Scream aloud the song, ‘mein karoon toh saala character deela hain’, and it would fit perfectly.

So how exactly can you- the ‘love of their life’- calm down the men folk when you lay your neatly pedicured, nail painted slender legs on to the work field?

The sole and life breaching reason is the lack of trust the men folk have in us. The solution? Do learn to take things with a pinch of salt. Do not take the “I don’t trust you” dialogue in the literal sense. Haven’t you had that ‘special’ moment when you doubt your husband when he is on the phone with a lady colleague? Men too have the freedom to hesitate such a moment in their life. Gain their trust. Spend some time with him and make him realize how important this job offer is to you and how it would help both of you financially.

But in the chaos of working, do not forget to spend that quality time your husband loves! No matter how modern life could get, any hungry, tired man would love to get back to a house where his wife welcomes him with a warm smile and hug along with a table of his favourite dishes. Sounds tough and tiring, doesn’t it? Whoever coined the proverb, ‘there is no gain without pain’, was completely true to the last dot!

Jugglers are not meant to be confined to the circus. A woman is known to be the queen of juggling; mastering the art of being a daughter, sister, wife, mother, home-maker, workaholic all together. So do remember your role as a wife and mother along-with the workaholic title! My mother, for example, was a super awesome mother and a star at her office. I am sure many of yours were too!

Well it all sounds a work of the superwoman, doesn’t it? But with all the elements in place, your husband is sure to agree to you stepping foot outside the house. After all behind every successful woman there is the hand of a man as well!

Dreams can change you

Rahul and Samantha were just done with the hundredth fight for the day. What were they fighting over? They themselves were not very sure. All they knew was that the very sight of each other made them crave to run away from each other. Or at least that is how Rahul felt like.

It was probably a lot harder for Samantha, since she fought against her parents for him. She betrayed and left them for him. She was thrown out of the church, since she had a Hindu husband. She was denied the right of baptism for her daughter, since she did not have a church to call her own. In short, life was hell for the first few years as man and wife with Rahul. But now, it turned out to be a lot more difficult. She missed him, and still loved him. Probably a lot more than when they were in college. But she was unaware of the reason for the sudden change in Rahul for the past few years.
He enjoyed being with his friends rather than at home. He enjoyed returning home late at nights drunk and out of his senses. He enjoyed beating Samantha once he returned home, for ‘sweet’ nothings. He enjoyed hurting her, and she enjoyed being hurt.

This time, they were returning from a party, where they had no other choice but to bare each other’s sight. It started off with Rahul complaining about her talking to another guy instead of to him. He was busy talking to another lady, and so the fight went on. The next thing Rahul knows is opening his eyes with tubes stuck to his noses and the beep of the ICU monitor. And the news of Sam’s death.

After a month’s stay at the hospital, Rahul returned home, which didn’t really seem like home anymore. Shreya was the only person who helped him with coping back to life. Her smile reminded him of Sam’s smile. When she got angry, he remembered Sam getting angry when he scolded her. When she cried listening at him getting angry, he wished Sam was there for him to beg forgiveness. He missed her, he wished for her to be with him, for him to caress her, to love her, the way she loved him in return.

But life had to move on. And so it did. He had a tough time looking after Shreya all alone. He left his alcohol bottles and the ‘evil’ friendship that came along with them. He devoted his life to bringing up Shreya in the best way possible, to make her happy, him happy and most of all Sam happy. He got back early from work, spent time with Shreya and helped her with her homework. He managed to make her eatable meals, which she had without a word of complain. But she asked about Sam at times. Too young at her age to accept the fact that she would never she her mother ever again, Rahul hid the fact till he thought was the appropriate time. But at times, he felt he was cheating on her. But he loved too much and the fear of losing her as well kept him going.

While walking to a nearby restaurant on a sunny Sunday afternoon, with Rahul busy on the phone, Shreya prefers walking on a zig-zag manner, only to fall and be hit by a speeding car.

With the thud of the plate, Rahul gets up. He realizes it was all a dream. He ran to the kitchen, to see Sam scared, for if it were a usual Sunday, Rahul would now be beating Sam for being clumsy and ruining his precious sleep. But today she saw him running towards her and hugging her. She felt him next to her. She felt hi loving her, the same way he loved her in college. And she returned the hug, hoping he would never go back to that sinful person that he was before his dream.

P.S: Sometimes people forget to express the love and feelings they have towards each other. and that is when God pinches you with ‘nightmares’ as they are called, to remind you that you better hurry up before it is too late.

Unexpressed Words...

The sun seems to be asleep
Since darkness surrounds me
You showered me with so much love
That I seemed to be incomplete without you
I pleaded, I begged
But you left me incomplete
You moved on, while I was stuck
My legs trembled, with the fear of falling down
But I held on, till I too moved on,
But my love still remains strong and pure
Waiting for you to return
To complete me

P.S: I am welcoming myself back after a really really long time :)!!! I have been going through a rough time, and I guess it is that time when I have to say that I should love myself a lot more than before. The change in the header is my first step to a new life!!

Two sides of a coin

You might be stronger, or outnumbered
But I believe in less is bliss
What exactly is the use of a hundered people surrounding you, when you are indeed alone
What is the use of being around people who don't have the courage
And the consciousness to speak out the truth
There might be a lot, but
You are alone
There is so much anger left inside
That I have to vent out, sooner or later
Anger of overreacting, anger of accusing, with no proof
I had proof, but you were too reluctant to know my part of the coin
There are two sides to every coin, my love
There is so much of lamenting to be done
But I guess you don't deserve any of them
Like someone said
"People who don't want to know you
Don't deserve to know you".

The Perfect Change

The dholak played their tunes, and the priest chanted the verses
As I became we, and Miss became Mrs
You turned to us, as we circled the fire
Promising each other to stay together, forever
For better or for worse, during times of joy and sick
Love had bloomed long back, around five years back
A love which I thought was perfect
But waking up in his arms, after our first night
Love took a new turn,
It seemed new, the love seemed new
There seemed to be a change
The perfect change

A Normal day and a few Realizations..

Well now that I am Home home, I have been enjoying my time to the fullest. Today was the first day that I have had to spend fully, yesterday being too drowsy and lazy spending most of the time cuddling inside the blanket. My body was getting used to the cold :P! Few things I realized today
  • I miss college more than I thought I would. Well for obvious little reasons, thought I wouldn't want to get back to that place anytime soon.
  • I miss my old wavy hair. Shit people make mistakes, and I make tonnes of them!
  • Cooking is actually damn fun. If you have a person to help you out (like my mommy the great), it can be a lot more fun.
  • Decorating a Christmas tree for the very first time was super exciting. Few more stuff to add on to it and I will be posting a picture soon :D!
  • I have actually grown thin! I bought a few awesome tops today and the size I usually buy was loose for me!! Yupppiiieeee....
  • I agree with guys watching porn and stuff. Well it's part of their genes isn't it? But I do not, or should I say DO NOT agree with guys videotaping girls, without their knowledge, and enjoying the tapes later on. Very bad boys, very bad!
  • I get tensed really really fast. And at most times it turns out to be for nothing.

So well yup that's it for now!! Made Palak Paneer today and it came out really good :D

And life took a turn..

Life was perfect. I had a perfect family, with the perfect mother who would support me no matter what I did. But I must admit she got a bit infuriating at times. But she was the best. I had the sweetest father, who was by far the only man who stood by me, at my best and worst. Well, till a few months back I felt Sam was a good competitor for my father, but I guess there is no better man like Daddy for me. And the two perfect sisters, Emma and Beth. Though happily married and well settled far away from the three of us, they are always there for me. Through think and thin. So well yes, we are a happy, cheerful family.

The only absence in my life would be a lover. A better half, a partner, an equal, but mostly the complete opposite, a spouse etc etc… Well with such a perfect family, why do I need one single partner, when I have four completely different, superb, exciting partners? To love, fight, care and scream at.

When I am not at home, I am at my pastry shop. Yes, I am pastry-chef. I don’t really like self appreciation neither do I like people who boast about themselves, but with the amount of crowd my shop gathers I should think that I am pretty good at what I do, at what I love to do. I have created wonders with Emma’s wedding cake. She wanted a white, really tall cake, so how could I resist my sister’s, and at that moment the bride, wish. So I gave her a white, tall cake with a sculpture of her and Peter standing on the top of the cake, kissing. And then I made sugar coated pink roses and ended with a few white flowers. It took me nearly two days to get it done, but it was all worth the time and effort. My parents wanted a simple, chocolate cake for their 50th anniversary. And voila, I gave them a heart shaped simple chocolate filled cake with a chocolate topping and a few hearts here and there to keep that love shining. And right now, I am busy planning for Beth’s baby’s welcome cake. Yes, I have promised Beth and Jack that it will be the best cake to welcome the new addition to the family.

And then I met Shawn. He used to be a regular customer, to buy his pretty niece a muffin just before she was dropped to school. We used to share a smile or two, but I enjoyed seeing the smile on Sarah’s face when he would hand over the blueberry muffin for her to munch on. Life seemed to be a lot prettier with that smile. And it used to be a boost, during those cranky days of mine. He came in one fine morning, wearing what he normally wears, a blue shirt, black pant and a black coat. And Sarah looked like an angel, wearing a white fairy dress. “You look like an angel. What’s the occasion?” I ask with a smile. “I am a fairy,” Sarah says with that cute-adorable-sweet smile of hers. Her uncle answers my question, “its fancy dress at school today.” “Aww, you are going to be the cutest fairy out there, my dear,” I bend over and hand her the muffin, for free. Who could not fall for that smile? I thought.

“I would not pay you, only if you would agree for me to take you out for dinner tonight.” Shawn said. It was out of the blue, totally unexpected. His expression made it feel like he shared the same feeling. But I said a yes. An even more unexpected, but honest answer. And then, I fell in love. Yes, Daddy seemed to have a tough competition. But everyone was glad with my choice. Everyone was happy for me, for us. Sarah seemed to be the reason for us to happen, and she remained to be our fairy angel. Beth gave birth to a beautiful girl, whom we named Annie. We wanted to take it slow and not jump into a marriage and ruin the entire relationship.

It had been two years, since my life became a lot more beautiful. “Let’s go for a drive,” I had insisted one very dark and clouded evening. He was busy with work, I was busy with my customers, but I wanted to be with him. Wanted to talk to him, look at his beautiful, perfect face. And he had never said a no to me, neither did he now. The weather was with us, with me. It started to pour. Not heavily, but just as much as I would want it to. To bring in the spark to the evening. He stopped the car, turned to face me, and held my hand. He took out a box from his pocket, which I was sure enclosed a ring and said, “It’s been two years since that day Sarah became a fairy. Would you mind being my fairy for the rest of our lives?” And as honest as my first ‘yes’ to him was I uttered with tears on my eyes, “Yes.”

The next moment I opened my eyes, I saw Daddy, Mom, Emma, Peter, Beth, Jack, Annie and a man standing next to me. They all looked worried, but relieved to see me see them. They said a truck had hit the car and that I hit my head on the windshield. But they told me Shawn was fine. I looked at them with a questioning look, and asked, “Who is Shawn?”

A Thought from the past

She clenched the letter with all of the strength she had. She read and re-read the words in the letter, inscribed by the love of her life. An unexpected sadness engulfed her, while the letter was meant to enlighten everything within her. There was a black out and her past became her present.

She was playing with her best friend, Sarah. Life seemed to be perfect, with a perfect family and a perfect school with the perfect teachers and friends. She was known to everyone, and loved too. Sadness was a rare visitor, only to be rushed away by the love from her parents. A mother, who loved her no matter what and stood by her in times of sorrow and happiness and a father, who guided her through the right path with the innumerable opportunities waiting to be unlocked by her. She loved going to school as it was truly her second home. Everyone was jealous of her, of her abilities, of her success in academics as well as extra activities. Boys meant nothing to her other than mere contemporaries in this strange yet beautiful life.

She never really believed in the saying, ‘nothing stays forever’ until then, since things definitely changed. As the location changed, so did her feelings towards life, relationships as well as boys. Maybe it was all part of the ‘age’, but she was not happy with the change. She felt a numbness that seemed to have been a part of her. She tried overcoming the sentiments, but it wouldn’t leave her side. She never really realized when she started having emotions to the opposite sex in a ‘wrong’ way. Yes, she considered them wrong, but she couldn’t help it. She tried running away from it, but it became a dreaded nightmare following every night’s sleep. When one left, the other would show up. She tried shooing them away, but they seemed to be stubborn dogs all set to bite away the life out her life. Happiness now seemed to be the rare visitor. But life had taught her so many bad and evil lessons that she forgot what true happiness meant. She forgot how to smile, how to laugh and how to live life.

Until, he kissed her on her cheeks. She looked at his eyes. She could see what true love meant. She could see she looked beautiful in those eyes, she could see the respect he had for her. She could see what true happiness meant when he smiled that sweet and caring smile of his. That smile, which always wiped out the worry from her heart. He bent on one knee, looked at her eyes immersed in her thoughts, smiled at uttered those beautiful words,

“On this birthday of yours, I would like you to give me a gift. Would you do me the greatest honour and be my wife for the rest of our lives, till our last breath?” The same words as was written on the letter.

And then, just in a wink life turned back to normal. Her past was long gone and her present was all that  mattered.

Love at its best

A strange feeling love is. You cannot live without it; neither can you run away from it. It is blind and can conquer any heart, but at the same time can bleed a lot many. It can heal any wound which was caused by love itself. We all curse it for following us and breaking our hearts, but the truth is that we run in search of love. It just listens to our call.

Jessica loved Tom more than her life. And so did Tom. They were complete opposites. He believed in a practical relation, while she believed in a romantic one. She believed in letting him know every single detail in her life, be it important or not, while he believed in keeping the conversations short. She believed in keeping him above everyone, probably even herself, while he believed in giving it time. But there was a difference. She doubted if the relation would last, while he was sure it would. Despite her being the romantic freak and the annoying bug, he kept it alive. She knew he loved her, because regardless of him not giving the relation much time, he valued it. “I love you a lot. I don’t know why I am behaving like this and I know I am not treating you and this relation well. But please do not leave me.” Those were his words to her that kept it alive. That made her believe that it would work, no matter how little time he gives her, because he would definitely run to her at the end of the day.

Ruby loved Jack. But so did she love Daniel. She loved the humourous Jack. She loved him for his strong wit, and a beautiful body. She loved him for the surprises he surprised her with every weekend. On the other hand, she loved Daniel for the sweet nothings he told her through his ‘talkative’ eyes on their romantic dinner dates. She loved the romance she shared with him, and the time he gave the relation. She loved him for understanding her so well, while she loved Jack for beating up the ‘gundas’ when they tried touching her one night. She loved the toughness in Jack, while she loved the serenity and calmness in Daniel. Did she wish she could get one of them with all the qualities, including those of the other? No. Because then they wouldn’t be Jack and Daniel.

They were more than sisters. They loved spending time with each other. Who would understand you better than a person who undergoes the same problems and worries as you? I guess that is what brought in love between Stella and Rose. They went to class together, rode home together, and shared their worries with one another, providing a caring shoulder to cry on. They offered each other with solutions to their problems, while making dinner together. They loved each other, despite the nasty stares from the neighbourhood. They understood each other better than anyone of the owners of those stares, so who would care about them?

Love is definitely strange. It could happen between complete opposites, people of the same sex, people with whom you used to hate detest till date, people you never wanted to even stand next to, an elder guy, younger guy, more than one person. It just happens. What matters is how true you are to the relation. It is not the time you give the person, though it is of very much importance, but if at the end of the day you think of each other before closing those tired eyes, I believe love is strong between the two of you. If you can pass through all the rough times and fights strong and with each other again, you have a strong love going on my dear!
Something I have always believed in

A Letter to Juliet

Dear Juliet,
I loved him, or rather I still love him.
I love him a lot.
He was, or I would prefer is my life.
I learnt what true love meant through him.
His care reminded me of my father, since I lost mine long back.
When I was happy, he doubled it.
When I was sad, he lessened it.
When I was sick, he caressed me with his soft touch and care.
He was never possessive nor jealous, neither was I.
He never opposed my wishes, bringing my dreams to reality.
It has been 20 long, silent years since he left  me,
To save this country, on the army grounds.
He is away from me, but never too far away for me to miss him.
I feel his love, as strong and true like before.
Wherever he may  be, I just want him to know,
That I loved him, or rather still love him.

Love,
His 'love'

If this is the only way....

You were there for me when the world walked away,
You made me laugh when I forgot what laughter meant,
You stood by me when the world pointed fingers at me,
You understood me more than I have understood myself,
But you have changed,
I don't know why, I don't know when,
You seemed to enjoy seeing me cry,
You provide me with no love nor care,
I crave for some love from you,
I crave for some words from you,
And now it seems to be too wounded,
That they do not make any difference to me,
I love you a lot,
But if this is the only way to it,
Then so be it.

The words don't rhyme, the words don't sing. But I felt like writing it, so be it

Fairytales Come True

Remember when we were little, and we wanted to be like Cinderella or Snow White, or at least like Red Riding Hood? Or at least I wanted to. I used to read over the stories a hundered times, but would still not have enough of dreaming, of being as beautiful as any one of them, or marry the way they had. That was probably one of the reasons I wanted to marry. Though, they do not make any difference to my present decision of not marrying, unfortunately to my parents. Never the less, would Kate Middleton, or should I say Duchess Kate Middleton and Jetsun Pema a.k.a Queen Jetson Pema have thought that they would be marrying a Prince? An actual Prince! You know, like the huge mansion, loads of flowing money, guards on their toes waiting for you to just snap your fingers, and voila they are right in front of you, surrounded by people who know you and respect you. Well I do believe that you gain respect for what you do and not literally for who you are. But imagine.. Just imagine!!

How would life be for them now? With all the responsibilities of carrying the huge crown of being called the Princess of a country, and not being able to go to any place without securities following you or people pointing and whispering, “Ah there is the Princess”, I wonder how life would be. Now that is what I call a transformation. From a normal next door girl, to a nation’s queen!!

Another very important thing, I can now type without looking into the keyboard. Something I have been dying to achieve. Yahoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

2011- A Love Story

The trees seemed to move faster. So did the cows, unaware she guessed, busy grazing on the grass. She felt as if she was moving faster than the chirping birds, busy finding its way through the serene blue clouds. Jennifer a.k.a Jenny was lost in the scenery beyond that she was ignorant about the fight happening on the other side of her seat, in the train.

She was lost in her dreams. Lost in Akshay’s dreams. The love of her life. They had a perfect college love story, until they parted their ways to earn some money before they could put their feet on the next step, marriage. But, most of their money went on talking to each other on the phone or net. Love was indeed costly, she guessed. On her way to Delhi, to give Akshay a surprise visit, Jenny is now recalling the beginning of her new life. Her life with Akshay.

Both of them set eyes on each other, on the first day of college. Surprisingly, they were in the same class with the very same subjects. They got to know each other, and voila, love happened. They spent every possible second with each other, getting to know each other a bit more than before. They realized that love was not about possessiveness or jealousy. They fought with each other only to end in a tight hug and sweet kiss. Not one person in town had a bad thing to tell about either one of them or their relationship.

Travelling in her train, she was anxious in meeting him. In surprising him. She had said she would be off on an official trip, but little did he know that she was busy planning on blowing him off with a surprise visit on their 4th anniversary. She knew he would not remember, but she was not new to it. She dreamt of him, of the time when they would be together, of the expression on his face when he saw her. She dreamt of his soft touch and his smoothing kiss. She dreamt of his caring, understanding and loving nature that never failed to make her skip a beat. She loved him. A bit more, each day.

As she got down from the auto, in front of his apartment, she was a bit nervous. She did not know why, but she felt an uneasiness she never felt before seeing him. She climbed up the stairs to calm herself down. She felt lucky to have a spare key to his home, as this would provide a better edge to her surprise. She opened the door with a fast beating heart and went on to his bedroom. She felt her heart skip a double beat at what she saw. He was on the bed with another girl. Both seemed to love each other a lot, or so their embrace explained. She felt tears fill her eyes and her mouth short of sound. She felt a combination of anger and sadness. She felt broken.

She ran back to the station, with a very heavy heart and filled eyes. Sitting on a chair, she covered her face with her hands. When suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder. She felt it was Akshay’s hand. Or hoped. She did not know why she hoped for it, but she did. But she was wrong. She looked at his eyes, who was Sanjay. He saw her crying and came over to help her out. She felt in need for some love and care. They spoke, and voila started Jenny’s new life.

Has love actually been so easy? Has it lost its essence and meaning? Has it been so easy to start a new relation, on the break of another? What happened to all the anxiety, dreaming, day dreaming? What happened to that love?

P.S: All characters in the story are purely fictional. Any resemblance to anyone, is purely coincidental J

Life's happy now!

There definitely is no place like home. Being back to my granny and favourite cousin, my heart is content now. Coming back on the day of my grandfather's 84th birthday, filling my stomach with the traditional sadya, seeing the happy faces of my grandparents, is just mind filling (and stomach filling as well :P).
With my parents far away in Muscat, and my sister and family in Dubai, the only person to 'represent' my family would be me. And boy, was I glad I could make it. Only to see my mutachan happy. My grandparents were my strength during the tough days at college. Since I didn't want to worry my parents, being so far away, the only person to whom I could tell all of my worries and problems at hostel and college was my grandmother ammumma.
Just too happy and knew no other place to share my happiness. Let me go back to my fiction novel, and then my research assignment, and then have to finish off with my internship report! Oh My God!!!!!!

P.S1. Sadya is the traditional Mallu feast, served mainly during marriages. Since 84th is a huge step n a person's life, we wanted it to be grand :P! For more information on the feast, visit How to eat a Mallu Wedding-Sadhya: a step-by-step guide. A lovely post and a lovely blog.

P.S2. Mutachan is the Mallu way of calling one's mother's father. Love him. Obviously ammumma is his better half :P

P.S3. Miss amma(mother), achan(father), chech(sister), jeeju(brother-in-law) and kanna(my sweetheart, nephew).

An Ode to Love

Love is never possessive, nor is it jealous.
It does not believe in boasting about, or in irritating their partner better half.
It neither believes in getting angry nor being rude.
It bears all pain and showers happiness for other’s happiness.
Love is neither blind, nor does it believe in everything.
It is never scared, but only of being alone.
It believes in trust and care.
It is neither selfish nor stubborn.
It walks on cloud nine and dreams in the day.
It begins in a wink and stays till the last breath.

Lonely to lovely to lonely...

Jennifer loved Jack with all her heart. She always had and will continue to till her last breath. Probably even after that. But there seems to be a gap between them. An empty barren hole, unexplained and uninvited. She cried through days and nights, hoping it would pass by. But it just grew, with things adding up. Maybe she loved him too much that she was imagining it. Maybe she was just too addicted to him that she was scared she would lose him. Or maybe not. She still loved him, and so did he. Then what happened?
He too loved her from the bottom of his heart, as he called her up one morning, and asked, "Can we meet up today in the evening?" She was longing for this one question, but maybe she loved him too much that she did not want to let go off her anger. Or maybe she just wanted him to know that she has been hurt very badly, and he owed her big time. Or maybe she was just craving for his love. But she agreed finally. They met at a hotel, both dressed in their worst. Praying for the best, and dreaming of the worst. She kept telling, or maybe reminding herself, that he loved her, no matter what. And no girl could grab him away from her. Now she knew why she had the new nightmares of being lonely.
They ordered the minimal food, just to keep the waiters away. She ignored his eyes, scared of tearing up her filled heart. He kept staring at her, lost in her gaze. He showed her his new 'friend's' photo in her phone. She felt it was the end of the world, and for the first time questioned his doing. He showed her another 'friend's' photo, and she asked him if they could leave. He caught her hand, as she stood up, looked at her eyes and said "I love you, and you mean everything to me". Tears rolled down her eyes. Maybe he couldn't see them, because he continued to dig out her thoughts from her eyes. He asked her if she wanted to go for a walk. She agreed. They walked, holding hands. She felt her heart back in place. Until, one of his friend called up asking him to be back home immediately.
After a million apologies, he left her in the cold, with only her teeth chattering. She walked back home, tears rolling down her cheeks. And this time she did not stop them. She let them flow, reminding herself he still loved her more than his life.

10 Day Challenge- Final strike

This being my last day of the challenge, I thought I would chuck the 'favourite three' idea and go on and write about what I feel like writing about.

First things first, the challenge truly earned me several new visitors and followers, which I love. Thank you all. Your comments and suggestions are truly a boost to my writing :).

Now to the more lighter side of it. Or maybe not. Would you opt for a love marriage or an arranged marriage? Why is it the Indian culture, is still against love marriage? Or atleast they are not for it. Or maybe it is mostly in the southern part of India, and the northern part have grown beyond it. I have heard parents tell their children, "Swantham chekane kandu pidichu nyangale veshamipikarathu" (Do not bring sadness to us by choosing a guy by yourself). What sadness are they talking about? What if their child's happiness lies with that person? Or do the parents mean to agree to the guy/girl they choose for their child, even if the child's happiness lies with some other person. As long as the parents are not sad, everything and everyone is happy.
I agree, and I truly mean when I say this, we as children have absolutely no right to hurt our parents, in any way. They have given birth to us, taken care of us, fed us, bathed us, dressed us, made us happy in every way possible with great pain and difficulty. When I speak, I do not mean you elope with the person you have met few days, months or years back for the parents who have taken care of you for your entire life. Neither do I agree with it. Infact, I strongly disagree with it. But does that mean, we let go or sacrifice our happiness for our parent's happiness?
My parents sometimes say that love marriages do not work. But what guarantee can they give me that arranged marriages will work. On the other hand, aren't there tens and thousands of love marriages that are still strong (touch wood), but more than hundereds of arranged marriages that are waiting for their cases to be accepted in the courts? The only bonus star I have found about arranged marriages when compared to love marriages is that, when arranged marriages do not work you have your parents to support you. But in love marriages you just have yourself to blame. Or maybe not. I am not very sure.
But, isn't love about two souls being as one? You love a person, you trust him, care for him, stand by him in thick and thin. And expect, and hope, the same in return. Be it love marriage or arranged marriage, I believe that this institution called marriage is a very solemn and sacred place, where adjustment is a vital ingredient. and the next most important organ would be trust and love. If you love a person, completely with your entire heart, I believe, trust follows its way.

P.S: I am neither for or against either of them. I believe it is a very pure and loving relationship, that should be nurtured and preserved. It should be given the value which it deserves, and should be grown with great care and respect. As long as you hold on to the person you love, I guess there won't be any problem in living life together. Maybe for seven whole years :)!
